Things to do in Livigno: a season-by-season guide

Livigno, at 1816 metres in the Rhaetian Alps, is one of the few Italian alpine destinations that truly works all year round. Here's what to expect in each season.

Winter: skiing, snowpark, cross-country

The Livigno-Trepalle-Bormio ski area offers over 110 km of slopes, suitable for beginners and experienced skiers alike. Livigno's snowpark is among the most renowned in Europe for freestyle, and the cross-country network is extensive and well maintained. Local ski schools run weekly courses for children and adults.

Summer: hiking and the bike arena

From June to September, Livigno turns into one of the most beloved bike arenas in the Alps, with lifts running for bike transport and trails for every level. Hiking trails start right from the village, and temperatures stay cool even during Italy's hottest summer days.

Duty-free shopping

Livigno enjoys duty-free status: certain goods, particularly fuel, spirits, perfumes and sports equipment, are cheaper than elsewhere in Italy. We cover this in detail in our dedicated duty-free article.

When to come

December–March for snow, July–August for the cool climate and summer activities, while April–May and October–November are lower-season periods with more affordable prices and a quieter village.
